A Day in the Life of An Exsportise Soccer Coach

The staff at Exsportise are very special.  They love what they do and they love making sure everyone is happy, healthy and having a good time.  Here, one of our Soccer Coaches and House Parents, Aaron, shares a typical day with us….

As a houseparent, the day often begins early with the responsibility of waking up the children. After the children are awake I take the opportunity to eat breakfast – a daily struggle of resisting a full ‘fry up’ – making sure there is sufficient staff presence in the house. It is then time for the staff meeting (usually commenced by a poor joke from Jason, Centre Manager – still funnier than me). Following the staff meeting we clear the house and send the children to their morning meeting. I then head down to football to prepare my session with the other football coaches.

After 3 hours of football I accompany the children back towards the dining area before eating lunch and ensuring sufficient house coverage. If I coach football in the morning I will have the afternoon off to relax, work out, and read. Soon enough it is dinner time, which follows the same procedure as breakfast and lunch.

After dinner, there is a staff meeting for evening entertainment and we receive our roles for the night. Entertainment varies from mini Olympics to Vegas casino night, from Blind Date to Dodgeball – but it is always fun to be a part of. After entertainments I ensure all children are back in the house and ready for bed. After some down time with the staff I go to bed and recharge ready to go again tomorrow!
